Thanks to its central location in the heart of Europe and its excellent transport links, Bern is easily and quickly accessible from all over the world. A dense network of public transport links all parts of the city, and thanks to the compact size of the city, most destinations can be easily reached on foot.
The city of Berne is one of the hubs of all Switzerland's main transportation axes and therefore has excellent connections to the European highway network as well as the international rail network.
Berne offers regular and direct rail connections to all major Swiss cities and the most important European metropolitan areas. Major cities such as Zurich, Basel, Interlaken and Lucerne can be reached in around an hour. Public transport in Switzerland is characterized by reliability and punctuality and gets passengers to their destination quickly and comfortably.

Important! You must buy a valid public transport ticket before you start your journey (except on the day of the match, when you can travel to the stadium free of charge with your ticket).
Tickets can be purchased online, in the SBB app or at ticket machines, which are available at most train stations in Switzerland. Additional tickets for other means of public transport such as streetcars or buses can also be purchased at train stations, in the SBB app or at the ticket machines at the relevant stops.

Bern is also easy to reach by car. Direct highway connections in the direction of Geneva/Wallis (A12), Zurich/Basel (A1) and the Bernese Oberland (A6) make it easy to get to Bern.
Parking is available in the city's multi-storey parking lots. Many hotels also offer their guests excellent parking facilities.
In Switzerland, the highways are marked with green signs and can only be used with a valid toll sticker (“Vignette”). Toll stickers costs CHF 40 and can be purchased at any post office, petrol station and automobile associations. It must be clearly visible on the inside of the windshield and is valid from December 1 to January 31 of the year after next.
The maximum speeds are as follows:
- Highway 120 km/h
- In cities and towns 50 km/h
- Country roads 80 km/h
- «Begegnungszonen» (traffic-calmed areas with right of way for pedestrians) 20 km/h (unless otherwise indicated)
Driving with lights on is also compulsory in Switzerland during the day.
After arriving on an international flight in Zurich, Geneva or Basel, you can continue your journey in comfort on the Swiss railroads. In Zurich and Geneva, a rail terminal is integrated into the airport. In Basel, the train station can be reached from the airport by bus or cab.
All trains run to Bern every half hour.

EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Fribourg - Bern railroad station: 1 hour 15 minutes.
Geneva Airport - Bern railroad station: just under 2 hours.
Since 2020, only a few flights to vacation destinations will be offered at Bern-Belp Airport, depending on demand.
